Lessons

Brooke offers on and off site lessons! We even have several lovely horses for you to lesson on in our program! We teach riders of all ages and levels with all different goals. We are not a typical lesson barn and function more as a training facility to help horses and riders!

Our on-site lessons range from 45-60 minutes and are private unless otherwise requested. Lessons on your own horse start at $75. Our horse use fees ranging from $15-$25 depending on how the lessons are booked. Off site has an additonal $25 travel fee.

Our horses are also capped on what we will allow them to do in lessons (2’3-2’6) as we do not want to over use our horses. Our horses also never teach more than one lesson a day and we prioritize their well being with frequent Bemer and laser sessions!

Beginner Lessons:

In our beginner lessons, you can expect an overall training on horsemanship and riding. We will cover all topics from handling and tacking the horses to riding to untacking and proper horse mangement. We go over the effectiveness of your aids and why and how we use them. In these lessons, riders can expect to ride walk, trot and canter with the potential of pole work. Questions are encouraged because we can never know too much! Remember: top riders still want to work on the basics so we want to make them as solid as possible! Riders are expected to have a basic understanding of horses and their own proper safety equipment.

Intermediate Lessons:

In our intermediate lessons, you can expect a more indepth lesson that will cover more advanced movements such as lateral work, poles and small jumps. We may practice a dressage test or work on galloping in the field. At this point, the lessons become more focused around the goals of the rider and the ability of the horse. Riders are expected to be on their horses at the start of the lessons, ideally having walked for 5-15 minutes before their ride. As always, questions are encouraged and we strive to master the basics at this point!

Upper Level Lessons

In our upper level lessons, these riders are looking for more of pointers than a roadmap to their whole ride. We will focus on a variety of exercises that move both horse and rider to their goals. Our jumping will include poles, cavellettis and jumps with specific goals and purposes. For riders that are interested, we may start including cross country elements into our lessons too. Our flat work will start including extending, collecting, lateral and more complex patterns. These riders tend to be more interested in attending shows and show casing all of their hard work.
